This exceedingly large and unique collection of original signed drawings originate from the English National League in the late-1930s, and includes examples featuring the Brighton Tigers, Wembley Lions, Harringay Greyhounds, Streatham and others. Each roughly 6” x 8” sheet pictures full colour illustrations, with signatures applied in either ink or pencil. 29 total sheets make up the collection, with 19 examples featuring single drawing/signatures on each side, while the remaining 10 sheets vary, with some containing individual drawing/signatures, while others exhibit multiple examples. Highlighted by Scottish-born goaltender Jimmy Foster who won Allan Cups in 1933 and ’34, he also led Great Britain to their only Olympic hockey gold medal in 1932.
The majority of the sheets remain in very pleasing condition, with toning being their biggest issue. Any and all items pertaining to professional hockey in England are scarce, with these charming signed depictions atop the pile for surviving quality items.
