Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction October 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/9/2016
This beauty of a Wayne Gretzky Titan TPM 2020 game-used stick from his first Stanley Cup season features a huge dedicated autographed sprawled across its now-bare blade. The Great One wrote “To Frank, Good Luck” along with his blue marker signature dated “84” towards the toe of the blade, which had his tape job removed. Featuring a “Fev 15 1984” date stamp low on the back of the shaft, this Gretzky gamer was originally obtained from longtime Buffalo Sabres trainer Frank Christie. "WG-1" is handwritten in pencil on the heel of the blade and "W. Gretzky" is stamped on the shaft with "99" in blue marker above it below Wayne’s well-worn tape job on the knob. Comes with Shawn Chaulk’s signed LOA.
Gretzky had 87 goals and 118 assists for 205 points in 74 games in 1983-84, when he won the Art Ross Trophy for a fourth consecutive season in addition to his fifth straight Hart Trophy. Game use includes red paint transfer on the taped knob and black marks along the shaft.
