Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction October 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/9/2016
The Montreal Forum on November 2nd 1937 hosted a memorial benefit game following the untimely death the previous March of Habs legend Howie Morenz. A mixed team of Canadiens and Maroons players faced off against the top talent from the rest of the league, with all proceeds going to the Morenz family. This vintage souvenir pin was available at the venue. Measuring 1 ¼” in diameter with a 5” long ribbon, both feature images of the fallen star, with the text in both French and English. The pin itself suffers from very little oxidation, while the ribbon, usually lost to time and not found with most surviving examples, displays extremely well with some light toning and wear to edges.
