The current captain of the Philadelphia Flyers, centerman Claude Giroux has spent eight prosperous seasons with the club. He has also represented Canada at both the World Championship and World Juniors. This lot contains a pair of skates worn by the Ontario native in the 2009-10 season, the 2010 Stanley Cup playoffs including the Final, and according to the accompanying LOA, in the 2010-11 NHL season. They have also been photo-matched. Bauer Vapor Models, each skate features sewn-on identifiers with “Bauer” embroidered to each tongue, along with Tuuk “Lightspeed” blades. Stickers have been affixed to the undersides, with each having “28 (3) Giroux”. A hologram from MeiGray numbered PHI000924 has been affixed to the left skate, and a matching LOA from the Flyers/MeiGray will accompany.
Heavy wear is present on the skates, as they were worn for a considerable period of time. Scratches, marks and abrasions are abundant along with surface wear, with loose threading also visible in a plethora of spots. There is also heavy wear to the blades and holders with a ton of marks and grooves present. Team-repairs are also visible on the boots, on the right side of the right skate, along with on the right side of the left skate. Regarding the previously mentioned photo-matches, Getty image #98170501 from March 23rd 2010 has been matched to the placement of the sticker adhered to the underside of the left skate, and to the wear to the fabric along the bottom section directly below the “R” of “Bauer”, while Getty image #101574434 from Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Finals on June 2nd has been matched to the placement of the sticker adhered to the underside of the right skate, and to the team repair on the right side just before the toe section. Lastly, Getty image #101933011 from Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals on June 9th has been matched to the placement of the sticker adhered to the underside of the right skate, and to the team repair on the right side just before the toe section.
