Playing out of the old Rhode Island Auditorium throughout most of their existence, the Providence Reds began life in the CAHL in 1926, before being bought and moved to Binghamton NY in 1977. This lot contains 45 programs featuring the Reds that aren’t often seen, encompassing the late-1930s to 1950s. We have 6 examples from 1936-37, 4 from 1938-39, a pair from 1940-41, 3 from 1941-42, 2 from 1942-43, 4 from 1943-44, another pair from 1944-45, 5 from 1946-47, 4 from 1947-48, 5 from both 1949-50 and 1951-52 and 3 from the 1954-55 season. We also have a ticket stub included that was tucked inside one of the programs from 1936-37.
The majority of the programs remain in pleasing condition, especially the examples from the 1930s, with just expected handling wear present. While these are not high-grade survivors, they were definitely not abused. A number exhibit unobtrusive pencil notations on either the covers or interiors, usually listing the score and game date.
