Featuring a number of items not often seen, we have a great little grouping of Habs memorabilia from the 1930s to 1950s. Included are vintage crests, programs, books, a pennant and original artwork of Butch Bouchard. We have 4 small vintage Habs crests, including an example framed along with one for the Junior Canadiens, an official Forum photographer’s button, copies of “L’epopee des Canadiens” (paperback) and the Parade Sportive 1945-46 photo book. Next we have programs for an exhibition game between the Habs and NHL All-Stars in Edmonton, with Durnan on the cover along with a soft-ball program for a match between the Canadiens and Rialto, a banquet menu for a dinner honouring Bob Fillion, along with a program from Toe Blake night.
Also included in this neat lot, we have a 12” Canadiens pennant in navy with a generic player, and it remains in beautiful condition. The Bouchard artwork is 10 ¾” x 14 ½”, and it pictures a caricature of the legend, done by Fred Groves. The piece displays wear, with a tear at the top. We have a Sport Story Magazine (7” x 10”) with Howie Morenz on the cover, a copy of “Les as du Sport” with a cover cartoon of Habs players, and a copy of “La revue Populaire” from 1929 with an article and pictures of Aurele Joliat. The programs are complete and show wear, with creases to the cover of the Durnan example, while the menu for Bob Fillion from 1944 is in two sheets, with tape at the corners from a former mounting.
