This collection of 2 antique lacrosse photos feature Winnipeg teams, with the 1895 Capital lacrosse club, and the 1912 Winnipeg lacrosse club with hockey Hall of Famer Frank Fredrickson. This very rare studio portrait of the 1895 Capital Lacrosse Club is a fantastic photograph of Winnipeg's Senior Champions. The vintage 14 '" x 11 5/8" print is in outstanding condition showing the team's players and their lacrosse equipment in remarkable detail. The photo is studio-mounted to its original cardboard backing with a label beneath the photo clearly identifying all of the individuals in the picture. The bottom corners of the cardboard backing have been torn off and there is slight water damage on the very outer edge of both bottom corners. This incredible photo from the 19th Century is in otherwise great condition, a rare find for vintage team collectors. The Winnipeg Lacrosse Club's 1912 juvenile team is posed together in this rare studio photograph. This original photo was produced by Bryant's studio of Winnipeg. The full team is pictured, including a teenage Frank Fredrickson located front and center. The original 17" x 14" cardboard backing has a large tear in the upper left hand corner that includes the tip of the original 14" x 11" print. There is also a smaller tear in the bottom right corner of the backing, which lists the team's players along the bottom. The photo itself has very minor surface damage and is otherwise in good condition for an image of its vintage.
A Winnipegger, Frank Fredrickson led his Winnipeg Falcons to the Allan Cup and Olympic gold in 1920, and later won Stanley Cups with both Victoria (1925) and Boston (1929). Interestingly, Fredrickson was already traded to Pittsburgh when the Bruins won the Cup in ’29, and had his name added to Lord Stanley’s mug when the Cup was redone during the 1957-58 season.
