Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction October 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/9/2016
Originating from Rexall Place, we have four large plaques that were once mounted along the hallway leading into the Edmonton Oilers’ dressing room. Each season the Oilers would produce a “highlight plaque”, with each plaque featuring an 8” x 10” team photo from that particular season professionally mounted beneath plexiglass, with engraved plates beneath and along each side listing the full roster along with all team statistics. We have examples from 1999-00, 2000-01, 2002-03 and 2003-04. Each remains in pleasing condition perfect for display, with just regularly associated wear commensurate with their former use. Each plaque will be accompanied by an LOA signed by Kevin Lowe.
The backs of each plaque show varying degrees of wear, with scratches and marks present, most likely occurring during mounting.
This collection of plaques date back to the WHA days and each features a team photo and a summary of the team's statistics, results and accomplishments for that respective season. These amazing plaques hung along the hallway leading into the Oilers locker room for all who entered to see and appreciate. Players, coaches, members of the media and fans lucky enough to have a locker room pass would marvel at the names and faces of some of the game's greatest players and be reminded of the highs and lows of Oilers history.
