This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/15/2016
Arguably the best rivalry in its day, the Dodgers vs Yankees, Brooklyn vs New York competition gave the baseball world some of the most memorable games ever played. Meeting a total of seven times in the Fall Classic, the Dodgers would only manage to squeak out a single World Championship in 1955. All NY victories, in this lot we have a program from the 1952 Series, a pair from each venue for 1953, and a pair again from each venue from the 1956 World Series. The ’52 Series would go seven games, while 1953 would see the Yankees only needing six. The Series in 1956 would go the distance, with New York crushing Brooklyn in Game 7, 9-0.
The condition for the offered programs is as follows. 1) 1952 program issued for Yankee Stadium, unscored. The program exhibits a bend in the cover, with light associated handling wear along the spine and toning. The interior remains clean. 2) 1953 program issued for Ebbets Field, scored for Game 3. The program shows light associated handling wear along the spine and toning, along with a few small cover creases. 3) 1953 program issued for Yankee Stadium, unscored. The program shows condition issues including cover creases, spine wear and toning, along with edge/corner wear. The interior exhibits heavy toning. 4) 1956 program issued for Yankee Stadium, scored for Game 3. The program exhibits just light handling wear, along with the odd surface dent or tiny crease. 5) 1956 program issued for Ebbets Field, unscored. The program shows moderate to heavy wear with surface dings, creasing, staining and toning, along with wear to the spine.
