Playing alongside Mike Bossy and Bryan Trottier as the “Trio “Grande”, the line was a sure bet to lead Team Canada in the 1981 Canada Cup. This Team Canada jersey was worn by Gillies in the tournament where he finished with 7 points in 7 games, and it’s been photo and video-matched and will include an LOA. Currently void of its former Sandow tagging in collar, there is an additional Sandow SK logo on the bottom hem. The sweater has been completely styled with heat pressed/rubberized identifiers including name, numbers and half flag team crest. Game-use on the patriotic garment includes just a few dark marks present, with some staining/discoloration on the lower front and back, along with board burns on both sleeves. There are also spots of paint transfer on the left sleeve near the cuff and armpit.
As mentioned, the jersey has been photo-matched. A CD with high resolution images that will be included have been matched to the red mark at the left of the number "9" on the right sleeve, and to the red mark in the lower portion of the "V" in the front collar. The jersey is also photo-matched to the final game of the tournament in which Gillies scored the only Canada goal, tying the game 1-1 in the 2nd period.
