Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2016
Wonderfully hammered late-1980s Penguins game-worn jersey saw double duty. Worn in 1986-87 by Willy Lindstrom, it was recycled the following season for Dave McLlwain, who wore it in his rookie campaign. Cooper flag tags remain in the neck and the Cooper logo and "Century Sports" are embroidered on the rear tail. Penguins logo is screened-on while the numbers on the back and shoulders are heat-sealed. Great game wear includes 22 team repairs, the majority on the shortened sleeves, 12 on one and 9 on the other, several of them sizeable ones. More game wear includes a red paint transfer on the sleeves and stick slashes. Comes with a Classic Auctions LOA.
Removal of Lindstrom’s longer former nameplate is visible adjacent to the twill one in place with “McLllwain” in heat-sealed letters that have some cracks and vinyl loss. McLlwain, who once played for 4 teams in one season, autographed Penguins logo although the signature has somewhat faded over the years.
