Here’s one of Martin Brodeur’s most unique jerseys from the outset of his legendary career with the New Jersey Devils. This Brodeur 1992-93 Devils preseason game-worn jersey may very well be the first time he wore No. 30 with New Jersey. CCM tagging remains in the collar of this “Christmas Tree” colored Devils jersey, with the Custom Crafted logo and CCM® patch on the hem and heat-pressed team crest and numbers on the sleeves and back. All specs of the jersey are consistent with early-1990s New Jersey Devils game-worn pre-season jerseys. Game wear includes black marks on the sleeves and on the Devils crest on the front. Comes with a MeiGray Vintage LOA and an additional LOA.
The MeiGray hologram applied to the fight strap matches the one on their included LOA. “Brodeur” is spelled out in heat-pressed tackle twill lettering on a sewn-on nameplate. The Brodeur nameplate is sewn over a Melanson nameplate, and there is evidence of an additional nameplate removal.
Although he spent the 1992-93 season in the AHL with the Utica Devils and registered no minutes up with the big club in New Jersey, Brodeur attended New Jersey’s training camp and participated in pre-season games prior to the 1992-93 season before spending the entire season in the AHL with the Utica Devils.
The only times Marty wore the New Jersey Devils’ “Christmas Tree” color scheme, other than retro jerseys late in his career, were during the 1992-93 preseason, as well as for his first four NHL games in 1991-92, when he wore No. 29. According to information received, Brodeur wore the No. 30 for the first time with the Devils in the 1992-93 pre-season.
A bit of the red “NJ” portion of the Devils crest on the front has come loose at the edges. The numbers “30” on the back exhibit some cracking and vinyl loss. More wear includes partially popped sewing seams on the left cuff.
