Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2016
The promise of Wayne Gretzky and the exciting young Oilers was realized in the spring of 1983 when Edmonton won its first Campbell Conference title. The 1982-83 Oilers playoff road began with a three-sweep of Winnipeg followed by a five-game win over Calgary. Edmonton won its first Clarence S. Campbell Bowl with a four-game sweep in the conference final before they were denied the Stanley Cup by an Islanders dynasty sweep in the final. This personal Campbell Bowl trophy was presented by the NHL to Oilers trainer Barrie Stafford, whose name and “Edmonton Oilers, 1982-83” is engraved on one side of the silver-plated bowl. Wonderfully preserved, it comes with Barrie Stafford’s signed LOA.
Historic first Edmonton Oilers personal Clarence S. Campbell Bowl trophy stands 11” tall, including the 3” tall six-sided wood base with a green felt bottom. A few very light scuffs to the wood base.
