Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2016
This mid-1980’s Philadelphia Flyers jersey was issued-to, and originally obtained from Dave “Sudsy” Settlemyre. Working for the Flyers at this time as a trainer, Settlemyre also served as an emergency player/back-up goalie for the Flyers/Mariners organizations and occasionally practiced with the teams. With just a tiny “10” fly tag affixed to the collar with handwritten “52” sizing, “Eagle” also appears embroidered onto the lower back hem. Featuring a gorgeous and clean Flyers team crest, the garment also has dual-colour tackle twill numbers and name-on-nameplate. With an intact fight strap, the jersey shows no signs of use and remains in absolutely beautiful condition.
We should note that Settlemyre was a long time trainer and emergency player/goaltender dating from the late-1960s. He worked for the Greensboro Generals, Roanoke Valley Rebels, Jacksonville Rockets (one game), Philadelphia Firebirds, Maine Mariners, Philadelphia Flyers, Hershey Bears, Kalamazoo Wings, Minnesota & Dallas Stars and the Florida Panthers.
