This rare white North Stars tie-neck beauty is from the "Next Six" team's very first set and it’s attributed to have been worn by Bill Collins, as he’s the only player we could find that wore #18 that inaugural season. The North Stars only wore these Wilson double-knit jerseys with Gerry Cosby tagging in the neck for their inaugural pre-season games before switching to General Athletic dureen jerseys for their first regular season game against St. Louis. With Gerry Cosby and size 46 tagging in the collar, we should point out that this sweater shrunk somewhat and now measures out to about a size 44. With dual-colour 3-d shadow back and sleeve numbers and gorgeous tackle twill team crest, this rare expansion era garment is a sight to behold. Though these jerseys were long thought lost for good, they were likely recycled as per the nameplate removal on the back and the circular patch removed from the front, and it’s believed that this set of 1967 expansion jerseys were used by North Stars owner Walter Bush's Midwest Jr. Stars in the mid-1970s. What is important is that this example survived to show how the North Stars looked when they took the ice for the very first time. Please take note that this item may be subject to a silent reserve.
Wear includes some dark marks scattered across the jersey’s front including some red paint transfer on the lower section as well as additional black marks on the lower left sleeve and elbow. Two team repairs are also present with one on the seam of the reinforced elbow of the left sleeve, and the other 1” repair is located just below the right elbow on the cuff’s green band. Among the variations in this style are the tie-neck front with the solid yellow collar, the original team logo with a more upright "N" that has a portion of the top left that slants down rather than sticking straight out, a curly number font similar to the one originally used by the Penguins, and smaller color bands on the sleeves and tails, the latter with the yellow and green reversed.
