With a number of notable accolades throughout his career, Alexei Kovalev is the first Russian born player in the NHL to be drafted in the first round, and he’s also one of the first Russians to have his name engraved on Lord Stanley’s mug. This Pittsburgh Penguins jersey was game-worn by Kovalev in 1999-00. With Pro Player Authentic size 56 tagging including handwritten “27” in the collar, there’s additional Pro Player and NHL logos embroidered onto the back bottom hem. With tackle twill name and numbers, this garment also features the NHL 2000 patch over the right breast and a cut and removed fight strap. Great game-use is visible with a number of large black marks throughout, especially on the lower front band as well as three large team repairs on the side and back of the hem where the jersey has actually torn and been repaired. A large 6” section of fabric was also cut out and replaced, also on the lower back hem.
