Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction November 2015
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/3/2015
The 1960 NFL Championship Game took place on Boxing Day, and it was especially noteworthy as the Philadelphia Eagles handed the Green Bay Packers their only major defeat during that teams Vince Lombardi era dynasty. This Eagles helmet was worn by Antonio Dixon on September 12th 2010 in a game against the Packers to honor the 50th anniversary of the ’60 Championship, and this was the only game these 1960 Kelly Green throwback style helmets were worn. With face mask, full padding and all strapping intact, NFL and US flag stickers remain affixed to the back bottom, and an additional sticker that’s been placed in the interior has Dixon’s number “90”. With just a few abrasions noticeable, the silver eagle wings are just starting to come loose at the ends. In gorgeous overall condition, a MeiGray Group sticker number 142037 has been affixed to the inside of the helmet for guaranteed authenticity, and a Certificate of Registration from the company will be included. An LOA from the Philadelphia Eagles organization will also accompany this helmet.
