Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction November 2015
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/3/2015
A mostly 1970s grab bag here, with five 1970-71 O-Pee-Chee Boston Bruins cards getting things going chronologically and followed by Guy Lafleur and Marcel Dionne (2) rookie cards among 43 from ’71-72. The Lafleur RC displays like an off-centered crease-free EX card but back damage lowers it, with both Dionne rookies low grade due to back damage. Notables without back damage and averaging in the VG neighborhood are Orr, Orr All-Star (G), Tony Esposito, Clarke and Sittler, with stars and rookies amongst the rest and again, some with back damage and some without. The vast majority of 21 booklet inserts have back damage or writing and are low grade, while (17) ’72-73 OPC cards include Orr (G), Orr Action (VG), a few rookies and a few Series 3 cards. Condition tends to be better in (38) ’73-74 OPC rookie and star cards, highlighted by Billy Smith RC (EX) and Bill Barber RC (VG+). OPC cards from ’74-75 total 13 but all look to have been trimmed or unevenly cut from an uncut sheet, with (14) ’75-76 examples and (18) from various other later years also present but without any real notables. Completing the lot is a complete ’83-84 OPC set in sharp NM-MT condition featuring Gretzky and the Oilers and the rookie cards of Pelle Lindberg, Scott Stevens, Bernie Nicholls, Phil Housley, Guy Carbonneau and others, as well as a set of (42) OPC Leaders from ’86-87.
