Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2017

The 1999 season was the start of a new chapter in Jacques Villeneuve’s racing career, he made the decision to leave Williams and joined the newly formed British American Racing (BAR). The season was very trying for Jacques and the team as he failed to finish the first 11 Grand Prix’s of the season and had a best result of 8th at the Italian Grand Prix.
This Bell Dominator helmet painted by Bell SPORTS Europe and tagged 99-17 was used by Jacques during the 1999 Malaysian GP held October 17th at the Sepang International Circuit. Jacques qualified 10th and finished out of the race in 12th with hydraulic issues. The helmet then makes a second appearance as it is photo-matched to a January 24th 2000 press event at Silverstone. We believe the helmet then may have been used in some early season testing for the 2000 season. The helmet shows very nice wear inside and out and has all of Jacques’ customizations; the vents are closed off, extra eye-port foam has been added, the drink tube is drilled and the full radio remains intact. The visor of the helmet is signed by Villeneuve. The helmet would make a great addition to any Villeneuve or racing collection.
Also included is the original Bell carrying bag with “J.V. 99-17” handwritten annotations. This item is from Jacques Villeneuve’s personal collection and will come with his signed LOA.
