Jacques Villeneuve made the decision to leave the powerful Williams Renault F-1 Team in order to work with Craig Pollock at the British American Racing (BAR) Formula One team for their inaugural 1999 season. The season was very trying for Jacques and the team as he failed to finish the first 11 Grand Prix’s of the season and had a best result of 8th at the Italian Grand Prix.
This Bell Dominator helmet was painted by Bell S.P.O.R.T.S. Europe in Jacques' traditional paint scheme and tagged 99-08 by Bell track staff who also attached a French flag decal signifying the helmet was used during the French GP, held at the Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours June 25-27.
Jacques qualified 12th but spun out on lap 25 and finished 22nd. The helmet shows nice wear inside and out and has all of Jacques’ customizations; the vents are closed-off, extra eye-port foam has been added, the drink tube is drilled with the tube still attached and the full radio remains intact. There are four unused tear-offs remaining on the visor with the top one signed by Villeneuve.
Also included is the original Bell carrying bag with “J.V. 99-08” handwritten annotations. This item is from Jacques Villeneuve’s personal collection and will come with his signed LOA.
