Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction November 2015
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/3/2015
Black Hawks legend Chuck Gardiner’s autograph graces his page in this vintage Maple Leafs program from 1931. Fellow deceased HOFer Bill Cook’s autograph also appears on his page. Both autographs are cuts on lined paper that have been glued on their respective photo pages. Gardner’s signature is in bold blue fountain pen ink, and Cook’s is in pencil. The program is missing its cover pages and is incomplete with some clippings and other items glued in. Gardiner is listed as the Black Hawks starting goalie in the lineups on the roster centerfold from what appears to be the first game of Series B of the 1931 Stanley Cup Playoffs, a 2-2 tie between Chicago and Toronto in the Maple Leafs’ final game at Arena Gardens.
The dating of the program is based on the full 1930-31 regular season standings listed at the bottom of the roster centerfold. The program measures just under 10” x 7”.
