If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em, and Danny Lewicki did just that when he laced up his skates for the Port Arthur Bruins after they eliminated his team in 1948 junior series playoffs. Lewicki, who went on to win the Stanley Cup with Toronto in 1951, helped lead Port Arthur to the Memorial Cup title and he received these two items to commemorate the Bruins’ Canadian junior championship. Originally from Lewicki’s collection, the pair includes his 1948 CAHA Memorial Cup medal and his CCM 1948 Memorial Cup Winners charm. “Port Arthur West End Bruins 1948 Danny Lewicki” is engraved on the back of the medal with “Trophy Craft Gold Filled” stamped at the bottom. “D. Lewicki” is engraved on the bottom of the charm, which is in the form of the Memorial Cup.
The charm has “Memorial Cup” on one side of the bowl and “Winners” across the base on the same side, and “Presented by” on the other side of the bowl with “CCM 1948” across the base on that side.
The medal has a small loop broken and missing on top, and four small holes at the corners.
