Stunning 1972-73 Vancouver Canucks uniform worn by netminder Ed Dyck throughout the franchise's third outing. Dyck, who wore the number during the season, also shared the shirt with Dave McLelland who played just two games wearing the identical number (#30). Tagged in the collar with an older baseball-style white Rawlings label, sewn over the more commonly-observed red Rawlings tag, in size 52. Game wear is easily spotted and includes a large stitched team repair running across the belly with another smaller repair nearby. Another hole, found lower on the back, has not been sewn up by the training staff. Evidence of a nameplate removal leads one to believe the shirt might have been worn for televised games or later salvaged for use in an alumni match. A significant find for collectors over on the west coast!
Dyck saw action in 25 tilts in 1972-73, twice as many as the previous season and twice as many again as he would play in 1973-74 before moving down to the WHL and WHA. The number "30" is done in single-layer tackle twill on each sleeve and once more on the back. A garter fight strap is seen sewn inside the back and a charming v-neck just above the tri-color tackle twill team logo decorates the chest. Various spots of staining can be found on the lower front hem with more of the same on the back and shoulders, some of which appears to be dried blood. Shown on this listing is a picture from a vintage game program from the season picturing Dyck wearing what we believe to be this very same uniform.
