Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2015
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/17/2015
York Peanut Butter premiums lead the appeal here, with ten 5” by 7” Canadiens photos having survived in nice collectible EX-ish condition with no creases and including Backstrom (2), Bonin (2), Gendron, Goyette, Johnson, Provost, Talbot and G. Tremblay, with a promotional stamp (TV, radio station) on the back of three. Three “yellow back” octagonal cards from 1961-62 are 19-Olmstead, 21-Kelly and 23-Plante and are similarly in crease-free EX condition, with “white backs” from ’62-63 being 1-Horton, 2-Bower and 10-Harris at VG. An iron-on transfer depicting Bob Pulford has light bends/creases but is free of any tears. Bee Hive photos include Group 1 shots of Bruins Cowley and Sands, Canadiens Lepine and Portland, Anderson of the Americans, Shibicky of the Rangers and Leafs Drillon and N. Metz and vary in condition but most are in collection-worthy shape, as are Group 2 pictures of Habs Geoffrion and Johnson. Interesting minor league photos complete the lot, with late-1940s’ AHL Philadelphia Rockets’ players featured in a half dozen on paper stock, early-1950s’ AHL Pittsburgh Hornets glossy 8 by 10s totaling eight and including Frank Mathers, Phil Maloney, John MacLellan, Bob Solinger (2 diff.), Ken Smith and Church Russell, with miscellaneous Providence Reds and Hershey Bears pics also present. Fun stuff!
