Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2018

One of the NHL’s most noteworthy clubs throughout the league’s century of existence, the Chicago Black Hawks began life as the single-season Portland Rosebuds in 1925-26, later christened the Black Hawks in honour of the so-named 86th Infantry Division during World War I. We have an interesting group of Black Hawks items, with a few other gems included. Highlighted by a rarely-seen copy of the 1930-31 Black Hawks NHL Official Rule Book (3 ½” x 6”), we also have team pictures for 1933-34, 1941-42, circa-1943, 1944-45, 1950-51 (2), 1951-52, 1952-53, 1953-54, 1954-55 and 1971. This is followed by a signed Bobby Orr stats card (4” x 6”) with the superstar featured during his time in The Windy City, 30 black and white player photos – mostly 8” x 10” - included team-issued examples with Pilote, Wharram, Nesterenko, Rollins, Arbour, Maki, Mosdell, R. Conacher and others, a 1976 Training Camp Press-Radio-TV booklet and an identical pair of 1979-80 Budweiser fold-out schedule posters. Also included, we have 16 signed 1992-93 Portland Winter Hawks Thriftway photos (5” x 7”), and 20 1976-77 Moose Jaw Canucks player photos, with this team oddly wearing what appears to be recycled Dallas Black Hawks jerseys. The 1930-31 Rule Book has heavy toning and some staining along with rusted staples, while the team pictures all show moderate to heavier wear, with the 1933-34 example having a clipped upper left corner. The signed Orr card feature’s a wonderful black marker signature, while the 30 black and white player photos vary in condition, with most in the mid-grade range.
