Classic Detroit Red Wings game-worn white wool jersey from the late-1950s proudly displays the Winged Wheel on the front. Famous team logo crest features white embroidered thread on sewn-on red twill. There are two square team repairs on the front tail and a two-inch long sewing fix above the white twill No. 2 sewn on the right sleeve. Big red twill “2” is sewn on the back of this circa-1957 gamer. Four different players wore No. 2 for Detroit from the late-1950s up until 1960, with Larry Hillman in 1956-57 and Al Arbour in 1957-58 being the most prominent. There is another team repair on the left sleeve with more game wear showing in faint black marks. There are light black stains on the upper right front below the collar and another to the left of the team crest that do not diminish this historic Red Wings gamer’s display.
The Red Wings started to wear jerseys with much bigger numbers on the sleeves in the early-1960s and then moved up to wearing heavy knit jerseys. This jersey is made of a heavy flannel type of wool with the numbers on the back and both sleeves in twill.
