Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2015
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/25/2015
The autographs of baseball immortals Jimmie Foxx, Eddie Collins and Lefty Grove are featured in this trio of deceased HOFer signatures, each authenticated by PSA/DNA. All three were teammates on the 1929-30 Philadelphia A’s World Series champion teams. Collins, an inaugural HOFer in 1939 who died in 1951, later traded for Foxx (HOF 1951, d. 1967) and Grove (HOF 1947, d. 1975) as GM of the Boston Red Sox. Foxx’s gorgeous blue fountain pen ink autograph is graded “Mint 9” on a 3”x 2” cut that is displayed on a sealed 3x5 index card with a newspaper headshot. Grove placed a nice big blue ballpoint autograph on a clean 3x5 index card that is also sealed, as is Collins’ bold black fountain pen ink signature on a 1x4 autograph cut from a letter he signed as an executive.
