Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2015

A couple of mightly fine forwards wielded the 2 Sher-Wood sticks offered here, beginning with the great Vic Hadfield’s 1970s gamer. Hadfield who began his NHL career with the NY Rangers in 1961-62, was still with the Rangers until the mid-70s when he joined the Pittsburgh Penguins for 2+ seasons. With his original white tape on the blade and knob, this Sher-Wood twig has “V. Hadfield 11” stamped on the upper shaft, and condition-wise, the stick has some wood-cracking issues on the bottom of the blade but otherwise remains in nice shape. Reggie Leach’s stick is from the 1978-79 season when he was still firing lasers with the Philadelphia Flyers, as is evident from the date “30 Nov. 1978” stamped above the heel. Reggie’s stick, with original black blade and knob tape, has ”R. Leach 27” stamped below the knob and is a “pattern stick”, sent to the Sher-Wood company and used as a pattern for future Leach sticks. The pattern number “7151” is handwritten in black marker on the lower shaft.
