Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2015

Considered by many as one of the most important compilations of Stanley Cup writings is Charles L. Coleman’s now-legendary 3-volume “Trail of the Stanley Cup” books that covered hockey from 1893 to 1967, set into leather bound limited-edition sets totaling 1000, and originally issued to various NHL players and VIPs. From the glorious set is this original printing plate collection of 28 that includes a 1961 Chicago Black Hawk team picture plate (4” x 6” x 1”), plus 7 individual Black Hawk player plates (1 ¾” x 3” x 1”) of G. Hall, B. Hull, Stapleton, D. Bentley, Mohns, Mikita, and 1 other. There’s also 2 Red Wings team picture plates (1 from 1952, 1 unknown), along with 7 Wings players that include Howe, Abel, Prystai, Henderson, Devecchio, Ullmman, and 1 other. And finally, a miscellaneous grouping of plates in various sizes that include the Stanley Cup, the Stanley Cup bowl, Clarence Campbell, Campbell’s facsimile autograph, the NHL logo, Frank Udvari, Emile Francis, Scotty Morrison, Merv Dutton, and 2 others. Overall condition shows wear on some, along with oxidation on others, but remains a unique opportunity to own plates from the “Trail of the Stanley Cup”.
