Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2015

From the powerhouse ’54-55 Detroit Red Wings squad is Alex Delvecchio’s NHL Champions watch given to him after the Wings' impressive season was capped off by hoisting Lord Stanley’s mug. Made by Elgin and showing the Wings logo and “Red Wings” lettering on the face and inscribed on the back as “NHL Champions 1955 A. Delvecchio”, this cool timepiece appears to be in fine working order, although the band is missing, and overall is in beautiful condition with a few tiny marks on the glass and slight wear and surface scratching on the back. Tremendous keepsake from HOFer Delvecchio, inducted in 1977.
Delvecchio and his Red Wings finished first in the 1954-55 regular season, swept the Leafs in the playoff semi-finals, and took out the Habs in 7 games to capture the Stanley Cup. Indeed a great team with the likes of Howe, Lindsay, Sawchuk, and Delvecchio among the impressive roster.
