HOF left wing Bob Gainey’s mid-1980s Montreal Canadiens game-worn captain’s jersey is from the midst of the four-time Selke Trophy winner’s tenure as the Habs’ on-ice leader. Gainey won the Conn Smythe Trophy in 1979 to cap Montreal’s run of four straight Stanley Cups. He had the C on his chest when he won his fifth in 1986. Aweseome game wear here with more than 30 team repairs throughout the jersey, with extensive repairs on the back of the left sleeve. The tagging is gone from the back of the collar and the CCM patch embroidered on the right rear tail has the asterisk on the right side. Loads of pilling inside the rear tail from the fight strap. Captain’s C, Bob’s retired No. 23 on the back and both sleeves and CH on the front are all sewn on twill. More game wear includes red paint transfer on a slashing board burn on the left front hem and hip. Awesome captain’s gamer from one of the Habs’ top leaders.
There are some 18 sewing fixes on the back of the left sleeve, which exhibits board burns and red paint transfer. Three more team repairs on the right sleeve, which has black marks, burns and red paint transfer. The left rear tail has a 2-inch long team repair and a small circular one between the red and blue stripes. There are eight more team repairs on the front.
