Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2015
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/25/2015
Awesome Howie Morenz lot features an original real photo postcard of the hockey legend in his 1916-17 Mitchell Juvenile Hockey Team photo and a pair of well-preserved shin pads that are attributed to Morenz. Howie is seated on the far left in the front row of the 3 1/2" x 5 1/2" postcard. The shin pads were given to our consignor’s father, who resided in Stratford back in the day when Howie was playing for Stratford. He played road hockey with Morenz, to whom he was a distant relative by marriage. The shinpads measure 16” long with felt knee protectors and hard plastic shin guards, with Morenz’s full name written on each one.
“Post Card” and a place for a stamp are printed on the reverse that is blank other than for a “47” written in the top left corner.
Also included is a 14” x 9” photo of Morenz in his Montreal Canadiens uniform and copies of 1980s newspaper articles about Morenz.
