Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/4/2014
It was May 3rd, 1996, game 1 of the Conference semi-finals between St. Louis and Detroit, and Blues sniper Brett Hull was closing in on 100 playoff points, which he would achieve that night when he assisted on Shane Corson’s goal, one that another player named Wayne Gretzky would also draw an assist on – his 356th NHL playoff point. Offered is the puck in which Hull reached his 100-point milestone (and Gretzky’s 356th), with the puck and logos showing a ton of game wear with scuffing and paint flaking. On the white trainer’s tape wrapped around the edge is handwritten in black marker as “100th Playoff Point Game#1 Det ’96, Goal by Corson, #16 #99”. A true milestone, 100 playoff points on his way to 190 overall. Comes with an LOA signed by Brett Hull.
Brett also scored a goal that night in a losing cause as the Wings defeated St. Louis 3-2, and for Gretzky, with his 356th playoff point, he would draw closer to his final career tally of 382, with #99 being the all-time points leader.
