Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/25/2014
Bittersweet is this jersey worn by Ruslan Salei during the 2002-03 campaign with the Anaheim Mighty Ducks, as the big and talented defenceman would be part of the KHL Lokomotiv Yaroslavl team that crashed in 2011, killing 43 of the 45 passengers, including Salei. Tagged in the collar as a size “56”, this Salei/Ducks gamer shows marks scattered about the front and both sleeves, with five team repairs on the left sleeve and four more on the right sleeve. Board burns, paint transfer, and small, unrepaired holes are on the sleeves as well, while the team crest and back numbers show some puckering. Sewn on the inside hem is a MeiGray registry patch with with numbers that correspond with the accompanying LOA signed by representatives of MeiGray and the NHL. A nice jersey from a fellow who suited up for 917 NHL games before leaving for the KHL at the end of the 2011 campaign in Detroit.
