Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/25/2014
Not one but two formidable pieces for a Lord Stanley collection with these 2" medals, which have a thickness of 1/8 of an inch, struck in 1902 to, like the back reads, "Commemorate The Celebration of Guild Merchant." The fronts feature the highly detailed raised images of "The Earl of Derby K.G. Guild Mayor of Preston and the Countess of Derby". Most impressive is the shiny silver coin, while the bronze also a great display companion, with the "Spink & Son" maker's name on the interior. The beautifully detailed Derby Coat of Arms is also on the reverse of each piece. Both have been preserved in excellent condition with the silver coin only slightly less than flawless while the bronze shows a touch more surface wear.
