Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2014

The St. Louis Blues were one of the new kids on the block when the league expanded to 12 teams beginning in the 1967-68 campaign, and right off the bat they found themselves, because of a new playoff format that required a new team to be in the finals, battling the Montreal Canadiens in the Cup finals in the spring of both 1968 and 1969. We have a couple of programs from the Blues-Habs Cup Final, with the first from May 11, 1968 at the Montreal Forum when the Canadiens would win 3-2 and sweep the Blues, along with a program from the following year, May 1, 1969, when the Habs would win 4-0 in St. Louis to take a 3 games to 0 stranglehold. (Montreal would complete the sweep on May 4th, a 2-1 win in St. Louis). The 1968 Forum program measures 8” x 11”, with all 48 pages complete, intact, and mark-free, with only some edge wear and some creasing in a corner to note. Habs defenceman Carol Vadnais has signed the front cover in blue pen, alongside the Bobby Rousseau photo. The May 1, 1969 program from St. Louis is slightly bigger at 8 ½” x 11”, with all 76 pages complete and intact, and aside from the lineup page which has a few pen check marks beside various players’ names, the program is unmarked and undamaged. Only a few slight creases are to note, mainly on the back cover.
