Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/25/2014
The legendary "Gordie Howe Hat Trick" of a goal, an assist and a fight in the same game is evoked by this fantastic set of Mr. Hockey's game-used gloves. These red and white leather beauties from the latter stages of Gordie's legendary career with the Detroit Red Wings were used to fire the puck into the net and set up teammates, and they were also easily discarded when it was "Go Time!" Howe's #9 appears as a white decal on the thumb of the left glove, which features an "Olympic Sporting Goods Detroit" label sewn on the cuff above the faded "Cooper, Made In Canada" stamp. Curiously not a perfectly matched set, with the right glove showing the outline of a former double digit number on the cuff, both of these Howe gamers exhibit extensive game wear. The gloves have been repalmed and exhibit team repairs. An incredible find for any Howe/Red Wings collection! Also included is a Detroit Red Wings home program from the 1959-60 season vs the Toronto Maple Leafs which remains in very good condition.
