Trading cards featuring Canadian Football League players returned to convenience stores in 1968 after a two-year hiatus, but not all CFL markets were lucky enough to be in the distribution region. Hobby experts consider the 1968 O-Pee-Chee issue as a test set that reportedly received limited distribution in Southern Ontario. Sure to garner interest is this group of cards, just ten shy from a complete set and for the most part in nice collectible EX, EX+, EX-MT and NM condition. The set includes a whopping 76 rookie cards, with keys Terry Evenshen (NM), Jim Young (EX), Dave Raimey (EX) and Ted Urness (EX), leading the way here. Big names include Jackson (EX+), Lancaster (EX-MT), Mosca (EX-MT) and Reed (EX), with fellow Hall-of-Famers Coffey (NM), Stewart (EX) and Henley (EX) also adding to the appeal. We count five filler cards with scotch tape stains, (#s 30, 38, 41, 43, 56), similar to all but four of the 25 duplicates thrown-in. Cards not present are #s 7, 20, 49, 81-Keeling, 83-Liske RC, 101-McQuarters RC, 102, 105, 118 and 132-checklist. Card #1-Murphy, (VG), is among the dozen-or-so cards not making it to the aforementioned dominant grades. All-in-all, a swell opportunity for collectors of CFL material.
