Montreal’s Autostade was the setting for the 1971 CFL All-Star Game and Argonauts running back Bill Symons helped a squad of the league’s top players stick it to the reigning Grey Cup champion Alouettes. Symons, who was elected to the Canadian Football Hall of Fame in 1997, took MVP honors as the CFL All-Stars clobbered Montreal 30-13 on June 29, 1971 at the peculiar stadium near the banks of the St. Lawrence River. This is the white silk-like durene All-Star jersey that Bill wore during the 1971 CFL All-Star Game. It features black, red and white CFL Players Association patches sewn onto both sleeves. Symons’surname is sewn onto the back of the jersey in individual red tackle twill letters. Red tackle twill stars are sewn on top of both shoulders and each sleeve has six sewn-on white tackle twill stars. Bill’s No. 33 is sewn onto the front and back, also in red twill. There is a remnant of a flag tag in the neck. This distinctive CFL All-Star Game jersey exhibits nice use with stains on both the front and back of the jersey, though there is little damage to note, as you would expect from its single-game use. This fantastic piece of Canadian football history comes with Bill Symons' signed letter of authenticity.
