Drafted in the first round, second overall by the Vancouver Canucks in the 1970 NHL Amateur Draft, Dale Tallon spent parts of his 10-year NHL career with the Canucks, the Black Hawks, and the Pittsburgh Penguins. This is Tallon's game-worn Chicago Black Hawks uniform from 1973-74 as indicated by the small square year tag sewn into the rear inner hem. The heavy red durene knit features a cross-over style neck above the intricately-embroidered Indian head crest and a peek inside reveals the garter-style loop fight strap common on these mid-70s jerseys. Team repairs can be found throughout and we count at least 12 of them including two lengthy fixes on the front to sew up a pair of long material runs. The Wilson and Gunzo's tags are missing from the neck and there is evidence of a nameplate removal. The uniform most certainly saw later auction down in Portland with the Winter Hawks after Tallon was done with it, a common practice for the Hawks. A great old durene and possibly the most attractive hockey uniform style ever! [red]Addendum; In 1973-74 & 1974-75 seasons, the Hawks from time to time were televised on "NBC Game of the Week" in the states (like Hockey Night in Canada) and all teams were required to wear TV nameplates. These plates were put on & removed for these TV games. The Hawks were on TV mostly on the road since ownership never televised games at home as a common practice.[/red]
