Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2011

Members of hockey’s “Royal Family” are featured in this intriguing 1929-30 “Camosun” yearbook from Victoria High School in British Columbia. That’s where Hall-of-Famer Lynn Patrick and brother Murray, sons of the legendary Lester Patrick, attended school in ’29-30. Although pages two and three here are plastered with autographs of students, it is page 80 that is most intriguing. The school’s basketball team is pictured, with Lynn Patrick at the far left of the front row and Murray at the far right of the back row. In the left margin is where a big bold flowing Lynn Patrick blue fountain pen autograph appears – a perfect “10”! Pretty neat to read the rundown of the b-ball team’s season, with both boys also listed as members of the ice hockey team, with a short summary of its season, marred by the burning of the ice rink! More student autographs are sprinkled throughout the book and also on the last page of the 100-page volume which has soft covers that show edge wear and tears. A quick check reveals that Lynn turned 18 in February of 1930 and that Murray, or “Muzz”, was 14 throughout that school year.
