Star athlete Quinn Butterfield struck gold during his amateur sports career that included a pair of Ontario Hockey Association titles with the Orillia Hockey Club in 1913 and 1914. Featured in this lot of 7 vintage pieces from the 1910s are both of Butterfield's original 10K gold charms from his OHA championships and a 10K gold locket gifted from the town's citizens to members of the 1914 team. The three gold pieces are linked together and each is engraved with Butterfield's name. White and purple ribbons from Orillia's 1913 OHA title win are included and Butterfield's initials are engraved in elegant script on the back cover of a Madden Watch Co. pocket watch, a gift that features a 13-inch gold link chain and is engraved, "To Q. Butterfield, captain of the Younker Hockey Club by Orillia Citizens, Mar. 1912". A Canadian Lacrosse Association brass medallion has "1910 Orillia Club, Juvenile Champions, Quinn Butterfield" engraved on the reverse. Butterfield's brass medallion from Conn Smythe's army division has "3rd Canadian Divisional Sports, France 1918" on its face and "Lacrosse, Second" stamped on the back. Photocopies of period newspaper articles accompany this impressive lot dating back almost 100 years.
