Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction - June 2009
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/16/2009
Attractive sepia tone photo captures the NHL’s New York Americans circa 1935 with goaltender Roy "Shrimp" Worters front and center. Also pictured are hockey Hall of Fame members Harry Oliver, Sweeney Schriner and Red Dutton. The struggling franchise missed the playoffs in 1934-35 but snuck in the following year and shocked the Chicago Black Hawks by topping them in a total-goal series with a score of 7-5. However, they would fall to the Leafs in the next round. The photo is substantial in size at 13" x 16", including the original matte folio. In excellent condition.
