Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/21/2017
A rare opportunity, Classic Auctions is pleased to announce yet another partnership with the historic Montreal Canadiens franchise, one that will bring to auction a large and impressive bounty of jerseys fresh from the vast and seldom offered holdings of the storied hockey club. Examples are present from 2002-03 to 2014-15, with both important game-issued and game-worn jerseys offered, with a direct line from the actual player and the Canadiens franchise – to you, our loyal bidders. Each desirable jersey has inventory numbers from the Canadiens, with each to be accompanied by a letter of authenticity on Canadiens letterhead, with this section of impressive jerseys offered online with the familiar Classic Auction bidding rules applying.
A unique alternate style that saw use for only three seasons, we have a Canadiens "1945-46 Vintage Set" jersey that was issued to, and prepared for use for Josef Balej in 2003-04. Size tagging sits along the collar, with embroidered NHL and CCM crests on the back bottom hem. Styled with the famous CH team crest that’s been partially embroidered, the solid white garment has been accented with oversized tackle twill sleeve and verso numbers, with the vintage “V” crest just above the right breast. Issued but never worn, the jersey remains in wonderful condition. Patches from the Canadiens (A02876) and MeiGray (B010142) are affixed to the inside hem, while a hologram affixed to the reverse number “6” matches the accompanying LOA from the Canadiens. We should also note that according to the MeiGray population report, the jersey is a "White Vintage Set 3 GI - DNP 3/13/04 vs. Toronto" example.
