Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/6/2018
Great piece of Boston Bruins and NHL history is HOF left wing Johnny Bucyk’s 1,000th point puck. Bucyk became the seventh NHL player to reach the milestone in an 8-3 win over Detroit at Boston Garden on November 9, 1972. Chief got his 999th point with an assist on Phil Esposito’s power-play goal in the first period before he scored his eighth goal of the season on Red Wings goalie Denis DeJordy at 9:35 of the second period. The rubber-crested Bruins Converse NHL official game puck from Bucyk’s milestone 1,000th point is mounted on the bottom left corner of an image of Bucyk scoring the goal displayed on an aluminum plaque displayed within a 27” x 21” frame. Comes with Johnny Bucyk’s signed LOA.
The top of the plaque reads, “John Bucyk, Boston Bruins, 1000 Points, From December 4, 1955 to November 8, 1972”, although Bucyk recorded his 1,000th point on November 9. The LOA signed by Bucyk also references the erroneous date.
