Winning gold with the US at the 2010 World Junior Championships, Jake Gardiner is a University of Wisconsin alum, with his first eight NHL seasons spent in Toronto. Acquired directly from the Maple Leafs, we have a photo-matched jersey worn by the Michigan native in 2016-17, where he appeared in all 82 regular-season games. A label with “58” sizing is affixed to the collar, with NHL and Reebok crests on the front and reverse necklines respectively. Featuring a vintage style Leafs team crest with embroidered detailing, “51” appears over the sleeves and verso in single white twill, with “Gardiner” across the sewn nameplate in matching material. The fight strap also sports a handwritten “1” to denote a “Set 1” garment. Great game-use is exhibited, with faint burns and pilling over each sleeve along with team repairs on the right shoulder and upper reverse. Getty Image #625155150 (Nov 20. 2016 vs Carolina) has been matched to the team repair visible on the left sleeve, and specifically to its placement. The tie string along the collar also seems to perfectly match. Getty Images #623159400, #622576092 (Nov 11, 2016 vs Philadelphia) and #623495016 (Nov 15, 2016 vs Nashville) also shows the same repair as a hole before mending. The team patch numbered “G-0071” is affixed to the inside hem, with a matching LOA to accompany from the Leafs.
