Jacques Laperriere won his sixth Prince of Wales Trophy with the Canadiens in 1980-81 as an assistant on coach Claude Ruel’s staff. The Habs fifth Prince of Wales Conference title in six years, the club would register 103 points, four more than Los Angeles and Buffalo, which ended the Canadiens’ run of four straight conference titles the previous season. This Prince of Wales trophy was presented to Jacques Laperriere for the Canadiens’ status as the 1980-81 Wales Conference regular season champions. At 13” in height, four silver-plated hockey sticks rise up from a 2 ½” wooden base to support a cup with an affixed coat of arms and removable lid. A plaque affixed over the front of the wooden base states, “Prince of Wales Trophy”, with “Jacques Laperriere” engraved beneath, with a second plaque over the reverse sporting, "NHL Champions – Montreal Canadiens – 1980-81". A signed LOA from Jacques Laperriere will accompany.
Exhibiting an even coat of tarnish throughout, the trophy does show surface wear, with some minor spotting to the lid and a few small blemishes to the reverse plaque. Laperriere has signed the underside of the base in black marker.
