The 1973-74 winner of the Bill Masterton Trophy as the “player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to ice hockey”, we are pleased to offer Henri Richard’s 1974 NHL All-Star Game East Division jersey. Labeling from MSG resident Gerry Cosby sits affixed to the collar, along with a size “48” swatch. Styled with an embroidered NHL team crest, the durene V-neck has been embellished with tackle twill sleeve and verso numbers, with affixed stars over the sleeves, chest and bottom hem in matching material. A pair of small holes are present over the lower and upper front, along with some light staining to the white border of the team crest, with the jersey in otherwise gorgeous condition. A signed LOA from Richard will accompany.
Known affectionately as “The Pocket Rocket” – a nod to his older brother’s famous Rocket moniker, Henri Richard first joined the Montreal Canadiens and his all-star brother in 1955-56, with league-leading assist seasons in 1957-58 and 1962-63. The Stanley Cup clinching goal in overtime of Game Six of the 1966 Stanley Cup Finals was plotted by Henri, along with the game-tying and Stanley Cup-winning goals in Game Seven against the Chicago Black Hawks in 1971. The position of captain was also bestowed upon the talented centerman, with Henri’s tenure lasting from 1971 to 1975, with All-Star Game berths also plentiful, with 9 appearances. The man with the most Stanley Cup championships as a player with 11, Henri was enshrined within the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1979.
