A second-round draft selection of the Toronto Maple Leafs in 1990 – going 31st overall, Felix Potvin would see action in 48 contests during his first full season in 1992-93, with the offered goal pads worn during his rookie campaign photo-matched to the 1992-93 Stanley Cup playoffs (according to the Getty dating of the utilized image). Heaton Pro 90Z models in solid Leafs blue with white and black accents, screened, sewn and embroidered identifiers have been utilized, with heavy game-use exhibited to the pair throughout. Surface wear covers each pad with heavy rubbing to the material in areas, with considerable rusting/salting to a number of the metal buckle components. There are also a few tears to the material on the upper left pad, with a large team repair near the top of the right pad. We should also note that the pads were most likely worn throughout the entire year, as hockey card images from the season show the pads being worn at different stages, showing differing amounts of wear. Hailing from his personal collection, a signed LOA from Felix Potvin will accompany these desirable rookie season pads.
Regarding the photo-match, Getty Image #502503393 (May 12, 1993) has been matched to the wear pattern/scratches on both pads, and to the repair on the top of the right pad.
