Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2014

The late Emile "Butch" Bouchard's amazing original panoramic team photo of the 1943-44 Stanley Cup champion Canadiens features fellow HOFers Richard, Blake, Lach, Durnan, O'Connor, coach Irvin and GM Gorman. What a lineup! The Habs had an incredible 38-5-7 regular season and won eight of nine in the playoffs to claim their first Cup since 1931. "Le Club de Hockey Canadien, Champion de la National Hockey League, 1943-1944" appears in white lettering along the bottom of the 8x20 print, with "Photo Laurent Marsan" Montreal studio in the lower right. It has been professionally framed, and it looks absolutely exquisite as presented in an off-white matte with black accents in a 14 3/4" x 26" frame, with three small vertical creases spread across the upper portion. Comes with Butch Bouchard's signed LOA. Bouchard’s original studio print displays to 7 1/8" x 19" as mounted. Before it was professionally framed, the print was observed to have a blank reverse and some curling. These do not show as the print is currently displayed, nor do staple holes in the white margin of the middle of top edge as well as the bottom right corner, which has a very tiny tear.
